Mill Hill Village Sports Club is proud to announce the return of its seven-a-side football tournament, to be held on Good Friday, April 7, at our Burtonhole Lane home.
The tournament will follow a group format, followed by a semi-final and a grand final at the end of the day.
Food will be provided after the tournament, with a trophy presentation and BBQ expected at around 3pm. The club bar will be open all day.
It costs just £100 per team to enter. The rules are:
:: 11am start
:: each team should consist of 7 players (maximum 12 players per squad)
:: full-sized pitches
:: 10 minutes per half
:: qualified referees for each game
:: team members to bring their own kit
:: MHVSC to provide the playing facilities and balls
:: pitches are grass and players should wear shin pads
While the late summer six-a-side cricket tournament has been well-established for several years, this is the first time time that MHVSC has hosted a football tournament for more than a decade, according to organiser and club chairman Sam Smith.
“We used to have a football fixture against Mill Hill Rugby Club on Good Friday,” Smith told millhillvillagecricketclub.co.uk.
“It was always a really good day where everyone from the football and cricket sections came down with friends and family. But this hasn’t been played for around 10 years. This seven-a-side tournament is an idea to get people back down the club on Good Friday. Having seen how successful the six-a-side cricket tournament works, we felt we needed a day like that during the football season to get people together and make new friends.”
