Mill Hill Village and Colindale join forces for 2025

Mill Hill Village and Colindale join forces for 2025

MHVCC Reporters10 Mar - 16:41

Around a dozen members of Colindale Cricket Club are expected to turn out at Burtonhole Lane as full members

Mill Hill Village Cricket Club is excited to welcome members of Colindale to its ranks after the London Sports League club’s unfortunate closure.

Around a dozen members of Colindale Cricket Club are expected to join the Village as Full Club Members, with more players making themselves on a pay-as-you-play basis, ensuring an even wider pool of talent after 2024 saw record participation. It is also hoped that some of the new cohort will take up some volunteer roles at the club.

While the closure of a club is always unfortunate, this merger-of-sorts allows Colindale players to continue to play cricket at league level. The assimilation of Colindale is also a surefire sign of the increasing pull of Mill Hill Village as the club goes from strength to strength, with a growing adult member base, a thriving juniors section, including a girls team, two high-quality pitches and a clubhouse currently undergoing improvements.

Former Colindale Cricket Club manager Bhushan Chhabra will be one of the new cohort to join the Village and becomes a committee member. Chhabra told millhillvillagecricketclub.co.uk: “Colindale CC was founded four years ago by residents living in one of the area’s biggest apartment blocks.

"We didn’t have our own ground and that’s one of the main reasons we wanted to join Mill Hill Village.

"We weren’t club mark-accredited and got no help from the ECB.

"We hired pitches at Burtonhole Lane during the 2024 season and have been in contact with Director of Cricket Phil Smith at that time and since then.

"We had a great experience playing at Burtonhole Lane - and we are very local.”

Mill Hill Village look forward to sharing more details of this exciting new venture as we have them.

The club also welcomes interest from potential sponsors and supporters as this exciting new chapter gets underway.
