Mill Hill Village FC, the sister club of Mill Hill Village Cricket Club, has secured promotion to Senior North 1 of the Amateur Football Combination, the team’s ninth promotion in 11 seasons.
The promotion was confirmed earlier in August after a recent league restructuring, marking a significant achievement in the club’s steady rise over the past decade.
The promotion from Senior North 2 puts the club just one division away from the Premier League within the Amateur Football Combination.
“When it sinks in how far we’ve come in the last decade, it really is an amazing feat that the club should be incredibly proud of,” said Mill Hill Village Sports Club chairman and Director of Football Sam Smith. “We’ve worked hard to build something special here, and it’s paying off.”
The team’s remarkable journey has seen them advancing through nine divisions, climbing from North 7 to North 1 over 11 years. The upcoming season, which kicks off in September, presents new challenges as Mill Hill Village aims to solidify its position in the higher division.
“Staying in this league will be an excellent achievement,” Smith said. “We are a tight-knit group of friends, many of whom have been playing together for years. We’ve developed a unique brand of football, and when we’re on form, we can be very effective.”
As the club prepares for the new season, including preseason friendlies starting in the first week of September, it will focus on building momentum and ensuring they maintain their hard-earned position.
In addition to the 1st XI, Mill Hill Village FC also have a 2nd XI. Anyone interested in joining either team can contact Sam Smith via samsmith194@hotmail.co.uk.
