Mill Hill Village will field a Saturday 5th XI for the first time in its recent history, a sure sign of the growing strength of the cricket club.
The 5th XI, to be captained by wicketkeeper-batsman Nick Demarco, a longtime member, will play a Harpenden CC XI away in a friendly fixture on July 20. The team club features veterans such as batsman Hinal Gajjar alongside exciting young talent new to the club including left-arm seamer Sayeem Farooq and colts graduates Dylan Patel and Hamish Mistry.
"It's wicked to see a 5th XI out on a Saturday," club captain Devraj Ray said.
The club already fields four XIs on Saturdays in the Saracens Hertfordshire Premier League as well as a Development and Friendly XI on Sundays and occasional midweek T20 fixtures. The club also has a thriving juniors section, including a girls team, Mill Hill Finches, a partnership with Finchley CC formed in 2024.
The extra Saturday fixture completes an already busy July schedule for the club, with Cricket Week currently taking place - the Ron Bunning Memorial Game against Paddington CC takes place on Friday, July 19 - and a mid-season tour from July 29-31 to Gloucestershire organised by Club President Piers Jenkins, our first tour since before the pandemic.
