Teenager Duncan McNaught took part in his first 5k parkrun in January

A young Mill Hill Village cricketer has raised nearly £300 for clubhouse repairs in his first-ever 5k parkrun.

Duncan McNaught, an under-17 player who has played at the Village's youth and adult level, participated in the Oak Hill park run in East Barnet in January. Duncan had expected to participate in the Sunny Hill Park parkrun in Hendon but this was cancelled due to wet weather.

Duncan raised £410 in total thanks to donations, including some from Mill Hill Village members and supporters, with £280 going to the club.

Director of Cricket Phil Smith said: “Duncan’s dedication on and off the field is fantastic to see. His efforts in raising these much-needed funds for clubhouse repairs show real team spirit. With the new season ahead, this support will help ensure our facilities are in the best shape for all our players, supporters and visitors. The club thanks Duncan and congratulates him on his fundraising efforts and all those who sponsored him for his parkrun."

The remainder of the funds raised will go to the charity Middlesex in the Community, which provides cricket coaching to state schools and supports wider community activities.
