A dedicated young Mill Hill Village cricketer is gearing up for his first-ever 5k run to raise funds for local sporting initiatives.

Duncan McNaught, an under-17 player who has played at both youth and adult level, will participate in the Sunny Hill Park parkrun in Hendon, London on Saturday, January 4.

Duncan, pictured above with Mill Hill Village Director of Cricket Phil Smith, is raising money for the charity Middlesex in the Community, which provides cricket coaching to state schools and supports wider community activities. Should he surpass his fundraising target of £70, any additional donations will go to Mill Hill Village Cricket Club, where Duncan has been a long-time member, winning player of the season awards in his respective age group.

"I am going to do my first 5k parkrun at Sunny Hill Park on Saturday," Duncan said. "I have been in training and hope to get a decent time. Please consider sponsoring me.

"I am raising money for the charity Middlesex in the Community. If I reach my target of £70 then I will give any more money raised to Mill Hill Village Cricket Club, who sponsor young people who have limited funds to become members of the club and provide equipment for them. Please consider sponsoring any amount you are able to, every pound will be gratefully received."

Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so by texting Duncan's mother Georgina and making a pledge via 07801480554.
