- Director of Cricket Phil Smith

Mill Hill Village Cricket Club is an organisation run almost exclusively by volunteers, writes Phil Smith.

No one gets paid to play, coach, undertake committee work or carry out ground maintenance work. We rely on our dedicated members' goodwill, skills and services.

We outsource the specialist care and management of our sports pitches and some clubhouse cleaning, but most activities are kept in-house and many volunteer hours are undertaken. This is why we are always seeking to lighten the load a little and spread the volunteering burden around as many people as possible.

Juniors
On the Junior Cricket front, there are many ways that you can help and I would invite you to consider supporting the Club by volunteering for one or more of the following roles:
:: Coach or Coaching Assistant
:: Matchday Scorer
:: Matchday Umpiring
:: Matchday Supervisor/Bar Manager
:: Club Safeguarding Officer
:: Team Age Group Manager/Assistant Manager

I can assure you that none of the roles are overly onerous or difficult and the Club would support you in getting involved in them.

Training would be provided, either in-house, or via the County Cricket Boards that we are affiliated with either Middlesex or Hertfordshire CCC.

The close season, the period of the year between the end of the last season and the start of the next, is when all the training and preparations are done.

Any costs associated with any formal training would be met/reimbursed by the Club.

Details of various training opportunities that are coming up have already been shared by email. If you didn't receive the email, please drop us a note via info@millhillvillagecricketclub.co.uk.

Training covers the following:
:: Foundation Coach (entry level/assistant)
:: Core Coach (Level 2)
:: Introduction to Umpiring
:: Club Safeguarding Officer training (no previous experience needed)
:: Scoring courses (details TBC)

If you are able to help out in any way in support of Junior Cricket at MHVCC, please take a look at the options available.

If you have any questions, either about the training on offer, or the Club-specific team support/matchday duties that you may be able to assist with, please get in touch with me for a chat: Philip Smith on 07976 297721 or email info@millhillvillagecricketclub.co.uk.
