Winter indoor training from Jan 24
Mill Hill Village is running indoor coaching and practice sessions for all young cricketers - boys and girls - aged between 6 and 17 years old.
For most juniors, this year’s Indoor training programme will again be held at Mill Hill School Sports Centre, The Ridgeway, Mill Hill Village, London NW7 1QS.
The indoor sessions will run on Friday evenings, between 5.40pm-7.30pm. Please take note of the below information for specific timings/arrangements by age group/experience.
The indoor sessions get underway from Friday, January 24. The final session will be on Friday, March 28, making this a 10-week indoor programme.
Mill Hill Village Cricket Club has booked both the main Sports Hall and the nets facilities upstairs at Mill Hill School, for all 10 of the sessions. This will enable us to provide variety to the training and to make best use of space and facilities. The start times for the Sports Hall and the Gallery Nets facility are staggered by 20 minutes.
Sports Hall, 5.40pm–7pm: Suitable for the younger cohort, who have not commenced playing matches yet. This will consist of a warm-up, skills, drills/technique training and structured games practice using soft balls.
Gallery Nets, 6pm–7.30pm: Generally for our juniors who have started playing matches and are comfortable playing with a hard ball. This is a traditional, supervised net practice.
We will split the nets sessions into two distinct 45-minute periods.
:: 6-6.45pm–1845 for U11s and below
:: 6.45pm-7.30pm for U12s and above.
However, the age split might be adjusted to ensure roughly equal numbers at both sessions. If you have a child in both age groups, we will try to accommodate them both at the same session if you prefer.
If the numbers attending each sessions warrant a full hour, to ensure everyone gets a chance to bat, then we have the option of either starting at 5.30pm or extending until 8pm if necessary and doing one hour per group. If you are unsure which of the groups/times to bring your child/children along to, feel free to contact Phil Smith to discuss.
For some of the older age groups (U14s to U17s), training will be be done alongside the adults at the Middlesex Indoor training Centre in Finchley. Details will be provided directly to those groups involved.

Volunteering at Mill Hill Village
If you're a parent or guardian, please don’t hesitate to contact Mill Hill Village about lending a hand, if you feel able to help in any capacity at all. In particular, we are keen to recruit mums and dads as All Star Activators, Coach Support Workers, Welfare Support officers, matchday scorers, plus support in the bar and kitchen on occasion.
Brief, simple and free-of-charge training is provided for all roles and cricketing experience is not a pre-requisite for many of the jobs.
If interested, contact Director of Cricket Phil Smith on 07976 297721 or email info@millhillvillagecricketclub.co.uk. There's more information about volunteering on our website here.
2025 outdoor season
The outdoor season will commence on Friday, April 25 (6.30pm-8pm). Age group matches are likely to start the following week.
The final session of the outdoor spring/summer programme will be on July 18 (13 sessions in total).
Weather permitting, we may look to get a few extra pre-season training sessions scheduled outdoors, utilising our own new net practice facilities, from mid-April onwards.
